Hello everyone. My name is Rabi Sule. In August, I will be celebrating 2 years of life post surgery. I had a gastric bypass by Shaw Somers. I have felt so motivated in life that I feel I could literally go bungee-jumping. However, I have kept it safe by doing a Masters in HR. My quality of life has changed so much that I am dedicating my Masters dissertation on the subject of weight discrimination in the Workplace. This was partly brought on by my experience of weight stigmatisation and discrimination in my previous jobs. I want to find out if WLS have had similar experiences as I want our voices heard.
As I said earlier, my research is interested in weight stigmatisation in the workplace. However, I am specifically interested in the experiences of WLS employees in the workplace. Post surgery, what are your work colleagues or managers perceptions of you at work? Do you feel you are given more responsibility? In retrospect, would you say you were treated differently? Do you feel you are able to be your own boss, for instance? I would like to conduct an interview or failing that, I am quite open to call, email or even chat. It will not take more than 30 minutes of your time. It is an anonymous academic piece of work. All data collected will be destroyed once the dissertation has been assessed.
